World number 61 Andrey Golubev claimed his seventh win of the season at the Portugal Open on Monday.

The 26-year-old defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in just over two hours.

Golubev is coming off a third-round showing in Barcelona and before that had recorded a four-set victory over world number three Stanislas Wawrinka when representing Kazakhstan in Davis Cup action against Switzerland.

Pablo Carreno Busta made a strong start on his return visit to the Portugal Open, upsetting eighth seed Mikhail Kukushkin 6-1, 7-6(3) in the first round.

The Spaniard made his ATP World Tour breakthrough at the tournament last year, qualifying into the main draw before knocking out Fabio Fognini to reach the semi-finals.

He went on to be named ATP Most Improved Player of the Year.
