But Machado is a Lisbon native and he knows the clay courts of Oeiras and that is why he was given a wildcard to the Portugal Open.

He proved worthy of it.

After winning the first set 6-0, Machado continued to dominate in the second.

Tursunov is a veteran of the tour but it is unlikely that he has met such a surprise opponent - Machado hit 52 winners out of a possible 70 points.

Tursunov's last shot may have summed up his mindset but Machado thoroughly deserved this dominant victory.
