    Defending champion Lukas Rosol is through to the semi-finals of the Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest after a straight-sets win over Gilles Simon on Friday.

    Defending champion Lukas Rosol is through to the semi-finals of the Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest after a straight-sets win over Gilles Simon.

    A poor start by the Frenchman saw Rosol race into a 4-1 lead in the first set, however Simon fought back and managed to take the set to a tie break.

    Simon took the first point, but Rosol the next six before the Czech secured the set 7-2.

    Strong winds persisted throughout the match and Simon was very unhappy to be detained on court when the rain arrived early in the second set.

    At 2-1, he had his way and there was a 15-minute stoppage.

    However, the break favoured Rosol far more as the Frenchman won only one more game.

    Rosol in the end completing a comfortable 7-6, 6-2 win.

    A strong start from Denis Istomin in the day's second quarter-final tie.

    The Uzbek broke Robin Haase's second service game and went on to take the opening set 6-3.

    The momentum swung wildly in the other direction in the second though.

    Haase swept the next five games, to race to take the set 6-1.

    The Dutchman retained control in the decider, securing a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win.
