The winners would advance to the last 16.

Nasser Al-Shamrani ensured Al Hilal would be confident of progression as he scored moments before half-time.

The hosts came close to doubling their lead just two minutes in to the second half but Salem Al-Dossari failed to take his chance.

Sepahan only needed a draw to qualify for the next phase but they were reduced to efforts from distance.

Nawaf Al Abed shot wide as Al Hilal held on to win 1-0 to ensure they finished top of Group D.
