  • Intro:

Leaders Nejmeh tightened their grip on the Lebanese Premier League title by defeating current champions Safa 2-0 in their top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (19th April).

    Script:

Nejmeh entertained Safa in Saturday's match at the Sports City Stadium, where Nejmeh got the better of the defending Lebanese Premier League champions with a 2-0 victory.

The budding rivalry has become something of a staple of Lebanese football in recent years, with Safa having beaten their opponents to the title in each of the previous two seasons.

However, Safa defender Ali Al Sadi gifted the hosts with an own-goal in the 63rd minute, failing in his attempt to deal with Khalid Tikka's cross.

Theo Bucker's side then doubled their lead in the final minute of regulation time when Senegalese midfielder Cheikha Sy rifled a low shot into the far corner.

It ended 2-0 and Nejmeh ultimately tightened its grip on the title, with the gap between the two teams now standing at four points.
