Germany lead Australia 2-0 in their FED Cup semi-final in Brisbane.

    Script:

Germany are well ahead of Australia after the first day of their FED Cup semi-final in Brisbane.

Andrea Petkovic got the away side off to great start by breaking Sam Stosur in the first game of their singles match.

Petkovic went on to take the set 6-1 but Stosur hit back in the next by going 5-3 up. The German forced the set into a tie-break though, there she missed three match points before this one went her way.

That was pretty tough going but Angelique Kerber had no such worries against Casey Dellacqua, she took the first set 6-1 and the second 6-0.

The Aussies need to win the next two singles matches or the doubles match will be meaningless, not since 1974 have they won this competiton and that wait looks very likely to go on.
