Shakhtar Donetsk celebrated their 100th game played at the Donbass Arena before their match with Metalurg on Saturday.
The first-half finished 0-0 and was a fairly uneventful affair with neither side creating many goal-scoring chances.
But it was only four minutes after the break that defender Vasyl Pryma scored only his second goal of the campaign for Metalurg, firing home from an Alex da Silva corner-kick in an attempt to spoil Shakhtar's party mood.
The away goal seemed to galvanise the home side however and within 10 minutes of going behind, Shakhter defender Sergey
Krivtsov picked up a loose ball from a Douglas Costa corner to level the scores.
Soon after the equalising goal, Metalurg had a good appeal for a penalty waved away.
Former Shakhtar striker Sergiy Bolbat broke away and had a clear run at Andriy Pyatov in the Shakhtar goal who seemed to blatantly bring him down in the area, however, the referee was unmoved.
Home favourite Adriano then produced the winner from a free-kick by Darijo Srna on the hour mark, which sealed the victory for Shakhtar.
Shakhtar move three points clear at the top of the Premier League.
