Stanislas Wawrinka made a statement of intent in his second round match at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters on Wednesday.

The Australian Open champion blasted past the in-form Marin Cilic with this sublime sliced volley to take the first set 6-0.

In the second set, the third-seeded Wawrinka lost just six points on serve and this ace sealed the 6-0, 6-2 victory, which took just 46 minutes.

World number 14 Girgor Dimitrov lost the first set against qualifier Albert Ramos 4-6.

But the Bulgarian came through a second consecutive three-set battle to reach the third round, defeating the Spaniard 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in just over two hours.

10th seed Fabio Fognini won the first set tie breaker in his match against Roberto Bautista-Agut, 7-6.

The Italian -- who enjoys watching motorbike racing -- hit this forehand winner to round off a 7-6, 6-4 success and see him ride off into the next round, where he'll meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
