Bautista Agut, Pablo Andujar and Tommy Robredo reach the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters in the late matches on Monday (14th April)

    Script:

The first round action from the Monte Carlo Masters continued on Monday with Spaniard Bautista Agut facing Vernon Pospisil of Canada.

Pospisil, the current world 29, struggled from the outset and was unable to reign in his free hitting opponent - Bautista Agut progressing 6-2 6-2 with relative ease.

Compatriot Pablo Andujar was put under significantly more pressure.

He lost the first set of his match with Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin and seemed to be in real danger of an early tournament exit.

But he fought back impressively, taking the second set 7-5 before edging a tight tie break in the third set for a 2-6 7-5 7-6(5) victory.

11th seed Tommy Robredo overhauled a spirited David Goffin in his match.

Some deft touches saw Robredo take a tight first set 6-4, before carrying that momentum through the second set to record an impressive 6-4 6-1 win.
