Lexi Thompson leads at Kraft Nabisco

  • Intro:

Lexi Thompson shot a bogey-free 8-under 64 at Mission Hills.

It gives her a share of the second-round lead with Se Ri Pak at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

    Script:

Former world number one Yani Tseng drilled a long birdie on the 13th hole in her attempt to simply make the cut in the season's first major. But Tseng settled at six-over in her two rounds and will not play this weekend at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Defending champion Inbee Park has a better time at the Mission Hills Country Club, but not by much.

She hit a nice tee shot on the 14th hole to set up a birdie putt, but missed her chance and had to settle for a par. Park sits at even after two rounds of play.

Cristie Kerr continued her stellar play to set herself up for a major run this weekend. Her second shot from the 15th bounced off the flag as Kerr watched in stunned amazement the ball didn't drop.

The new mum tapped in for birdie and sits five-under for the tournament.

First-round leader Sanshan Feng knocked in a birdie on the second hole to briefly put her back in the lead. Feng couldn't recapture the magic of Thursday's round, however, and four bogeys dropped her to tied for fourth at five-under.

Michelle Wie is poised to make a run at her first major win. On the 10th hole, she clubbed her approach up the hill and settled kindly for a birdie putt.

Wie sits at six-under after two rounds.

Se Ri Pak had another fantastic day. The five-time major winner set up her second birdie of the day with a wonderful approach shot on the 18th hole.

The South Korean shot a 70 on the day to hold a share of the lead at seven-under.

However, the round of the day belonged to 19 year-old American Lexi Thompson. She looked in trouble on the par-4 4th hole when her sight line was blocked by a tree, but she navigated the shot deftly, and set up her sixth birdie in eight holes.

On the 9th she sunk a birdie putt to give her a seven-under and share of the lead.

Her 64 is the lowest second round score in Kraft history.
