Stacy Lewis has said that she did not realise her criticism of putting Paulina Gretzky on the cover of Golf Digest would create so much interest.

The American, who has never appeared on the cover herself, said that she wanted to concentrate on playing golf rather than the controversy.

"You know when I said those comments I didn't think it would turn into kind of what it has but we're getting a lot of support, a lot of people are on our side. You know, I don't know, it's kind of, there's kind of good and bad to it, I mean it's a good thing that people are raising some awareness about it and they're realising it but, you know, at the same time you want people to focus on the tournament here this week and we're here playing a major championship and that's what needs to be talked about right now."
