Prince Harry has visited London's newest park, which sits in the former Olympic site in Stratford.

The prince was joined on Friday 4th April by London's mayor Boris Johnson.

The Olympic Park has gone through a transformation, incorporating features such as a children's playground, a new tree-lined walkway, interactive water fountains and four themed walking trails.

Boris Johnson declared the park open.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Boris Johnson, Mayor of London:

"Almost two years since we had the Olympics, and with London doing far better than any other Olympic city in delivering on the legacy of our fantastic Games, I have fantastic pleasure in declaring this Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park open (applause)."

Meanwhile Prince Harry explained the significance of opening the park to the public

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Prince Harry:

"It was fantastic the way it was anyway, but the amount of money that's been spent, and the creativity as well. I think it's brought it to life, and I think that the members of the public get a chance to come through here - and the kids, you know, absolutely, they adore it, playing in the sand and they realise how lucky they are that they've had a chance to come down here before everybody else."

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford opens to the public on Saturday (5th April) for the first time since the London 2012 Games.
