It was a beautiful spring day in Copenhagen for the World Half Marathon Championships. That brought out plenty of spectators to the start of the women's race which was dominated by Gladys Cherono, she pulled away from her fellow Kenyans in the leading group, And she eased home to take the gold to add to her 10,000 metre silver at the Worlds in Moscow.

This really did turn into a great day for Kenyan athletes as there was also victory in the men's race on streets of the Danish captial.

2011 World cross junior champion Geoffrey Kamworor blew away the field, that's the the best time seen this season.

Samuel Tsegay of Eritrea took the silver with Guye Adola of Ethiopia was in third, this day though belonged to Kenya.
