Vettel admits new F1 rules have been a struggle

  • Intro:

All F1 teams will be anxious heading into this Friday's practice sessions in Australia.

The new computer-controlled engines must balance the power supply between the combustion engine, turbo charger, and the battery-stored electric power.

Added to that is the need to reduce fuel use by about a third on last year to meet new rules, understand the altered aerodynamics and get used to new tyres.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull:

"Basically it is (the same). You still drive the car and you still try to go as quick as you can but obviously there are a bit different tools on board and managing that will obviously take some time to get used to. I think, yeah. Obviously we have done a lot of work and we have tried to simplify things and etc but yeah. It is quite a lot of stuff that is new to all of us - including the drivers - and of course we have to get used to it. So, the running we had was, I think, very useful in that regard but we will still learn a lot once we go in a real race situation against everyone and try to manage our own race and manage the race against all the others. It could turn out to be quite a bit different - we don't know yet because we haven't had a race so, we will see on Sunday."
