France head coach praises Brian O'Driscoll

  • Intro:

France host Ireland in the Six Nations on Saturday night knowing that a victory in Paris could bring them an unlikely championship.

The game will be Ireland legend Brian O'Driscoll's 141st and final international appearance, but France head coach Phillipe Saint-Andre is still hoping to ruin his night.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (French) Philippe Saint-Andre, France head coach (on Brian O'Driscoll):

"He's a great player, who served not only Irish rugby but also world rugby. I saw him arriving at the Stade de France as a young and unknown player and then he scored three tries. He had the technique of Jo Maso or Didier Codorniou and the speed of Patrice Lagisquet or Patrick Esteve. And he could have been French with his incredible intuition and capacity to keep the ball alive and to deliver a pass after a contact. He is a big player, captain of the British Lions and Ireland national team and even if he brought a lot to the rugby in the world we don't plan to idolise him on Saturday at the Stade de France."
