Mexican prison inmates set up wrestling programme

Wednesday, February 26 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Two inmates at a Mexican prison have started a free wrestling programme, in the tradition of "Lucha Libre", to help prisoners relax and temporarily forget prison life.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Bernabe Garcia, inmate and former professional wrestler, known as "Pentagoncito":
"I think the programme helps the inmates to stay away from drugs. They have begun to like the sport because free wrestling is something magical, that's the way I started. I started training as a hobby and it ended up being part of my life, part of my work. This happens to many people. The inmates come to see what it's like and they realise this is a sport that requires a lot of training and preparation.
