Russia were clear favourites heading into the 2014 Team Ice Speedway World Championship in Togliatti on Sunday, with several factors in their favour.

As if home advantage and the fact that they were 11-time defending champions wasn't enough for Russia, they also had Daniil Ivanov and Dmitry Koltakov - the respective winners of the first two rounds of the individual season - in their three-man team.

Ivanov and Koltakov finished in first and second place Russia's heat against the highly rated team from Finland.

Koltakov then finished second to team-mate Sergey Makarov in the heat against Sweden as Russia clinched the title without drama.

Ivanov, Koltakov and Makarov topped the final standings on 58 points - 15 clear of nearest rivals Sweden.

Finland completed the podium places on 36 points, with Germany a further point behind in fourth.
