Mountain village of Rosa Khutor celebrates Sochi opening ceremony

    Whilst those on the coast of Sochi were able to see and hear the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games at first hand, those in Rosa Khutor, a small Alpine village to the mountains in the north, seemed happy enough to take in the spectacle in a jubilant atmosphere of the specially created 'fan zone.'

    "Yes, Russian people are really happy. Everybody is really happy because the last game in Russia were the 1980's and they were in the USSR and now it is the first Games in Russia, really in Russia and in Sochi and everyone really loves these Games."

    "So lets stay away from the politics about the gay stuff. I think this is just a peace time where everybody has to be all together and it doesn't matter if you are gay or not. It is the Olympic Games it is time to enjoy this time and it is great. It is great that we are all together. It is so amazing, like all the people from all the world are coming to Sochi and that is great."
