These machines were created to master nature.

But the FIM X-Trial World Championship has meant that these bikes have been entertaining fans indoors since 1993.

The man-made courses are extremely creative and test the riders to their limits.

It was no different in Marseille, where Spain's Toni Bou extended his lead at the top after two rounds of the Championship.

Bou had won the first round in Sheffield and his win in France moves him on to 40 points in the overall series ranking, 13 ahead of his closest rival Albert Cabestany.

Cabestany finished third in behind fellow Spaniard Adam Raga, whose second place finish in this event propelled him into third in the series ranking.
