In men's basketball, defending SEA Games champions the Philippines, faced fellow unbeaten Thailand
The game was never in doubt as the Philippines won 100-68, moving to 4-0 in the SEA Games men's basketball tournament and handing Thailand their first loss of the tournament.
In the day's other game, Singapore went on to win 99-43 against Cambodia and keep on track for an anticipated gold medal showdown with the Philippines.
The second night of the Games swimming began with a bizarre replay of Thursday's women's 100-metre freestyle after a protest by Thailand over a second starting horn was upheld, taking the gold away from winner Jasmine Alkhadi of the Philippines.
The Filipino Olympian wasn't able to repeat her winning performance as Thailand's Nathannan Junkrajang won her country's first gold medal in the pool.
In the men's 100-metre freestyle, Indonesia's Triady Fauzi Sidiq set a new SEA Games mark with a gold medal winning time of 49.99 seconds, becoming the first swimmer ever from Southeast Asia to break the 50-second mark in the event.
Defending SEA Games champions Malaysia faced minnows Laos in Group A of the men's football.
Ahmad Hazwan Bakri riffled the Malaysians into the lead and they went onto win the game 4-1.
The other match saw Singapore play Brunei . Sahil Suhaimi skilfully saw off two defenders to put Singapore two up - and that's how it stayed. Singapore top group A with seven points. Malaysia sit second with six points and a game in hand.
