The German team of Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst reached the final of the Sao Paulo Beach Volleyball Grand Slam in Brazil on Saturday (October 12).
In the semi-finals, the Hamburg duo defeated the home pair of Maria Antonelli and Agatha Bednarczuk by two sets to one (22-24, 21-14, 15-11) after an hour on court.
This is the second time Ludwig and Walkenhorst have reached a Grand Slam final in their first season together.
In Sunday's final, the German team will take on Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross of the USA.
The American pair also won by two sets to one against Italy's Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth after losing the first set.
Ross and Walsh Jennings, playing in only their second FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Open tournament together, eventually triumphed 18-21, 21-15, 15-13 in 51 minutes
Brazilians Pedro Salgado and Bruno Schmidt will face Americans Philip Dalhausser and Casey Jennings in the men's final.
In Saturday's semi-finals the Americans beat the Spanish pair of Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira, ninth in the world rankings, in straight sets,
Earlier, in a duel between the two best pairs of the season so far, the Brazilians, Bruno Schmidt and Pedro Salgado, got the better of the Latvian duo of Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs by two sets to one, 21-15, 20-22, 15-12 after 53 minutes on court.
The final will be a repeat of a Group B encounter from earlier in the tournament, which was won by the Brazilians
