Leandro scores as Ponte Preta lose 2-1 to Palmeiras in Paulista

  • Intro:

Palmeiras qualify for the next stage of the Paulista with a 2-1 win against Ponte Preta on Sunday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

    Script:

Ponte Preta are pushing to go top of the Paulista standings but it was Palmeiras who started the brighter.

And after just 4 minutes they took the lead, Wendel's cross headed in by Tiago Real. No chance for the goalkeeper.

But Ponte Preta came back into the match before half time and this time the keeper was certainly in the thick of the actin Luis Ramirez winning the ball...to score...but also taking out Fernando Prass in the process...ouch!

The goal stood though and Prass was somehow able to continue sporting a large bump!?.

And his side retook the lead. Leandro with a clinical finish in the box..
Fresh from scoring on his debut for Brazil in the 4-0 win against Bolivia, Leandro made it two goals in two days with that neat finish for his club.

He was given a yellow card for his celebration though and will miss the next match.

Palmeiras go above Corinthians into fifth.

But Ponte Preta's day ended on a bad note when Cleber Reis was given a red card for this violent conduct.
