Belgian international defender Toby Alderweireld spoke on Friday about his career at Ajax, rumours of a move to the English Premier League and his country's chances of making it to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

(Q: What have you made of Ajax's season so far?) "A good season I think, we play good football. We played Champions League, unfortunately we are out of the Europa League now, now there is one chance, to get to win the league and that's very important now."

(Q: You are part of the golden generation of Belgian footballers, how important is it to qualify for a major championships?) "Yeah the first step I think is to get to Brazil, that's the first big achievement we have to get and then we will see. Yeah it is too long ago when Belgium was in the end of a tournament and that's our first goal I think."

(Q: You play Macedonia in your next 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier, how difficult will that match be?) "People underestimate Macedonia I think, but they won last 3-0 against Denmark (in a friendly), so they have a good team. It is going to be difficult away there and then we get them (at) home, but I think if we want to go to the next round we have to win, but it is not going to be easy."

(Q: You've been linked to a host of clubs, do you just focus on your next game?) "Yeah. It's not difficult, I focus on the team and to Ajax because that is the most important thing and I don't think it's good if I focus on a transfer because then my play is not going to be good and that's not good for anybody. I focus on Ajax and we will see after this season what I will do."
