McIlroy crowned Urban Golf champ

Friday, November 16 2012 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Rory McIlroy proved it doesn't matter where you put the course, the world number one is still better than the rest after winning the Urban Golf Challenge in Hong Kong

    Script:

Try playing golf in a densely populated city normally and you are likely to have a visit from the boys in blues.

However, at Chater Garden in the heart of downtown Hong Kong you are positively encouraged to bring your clubs and a few balls along as part of the unique Urban Golf Challenge.

The specially designed par-three course attracted some of the biggest names in golf, with Rory McIlroy, Paul Lawrie, Matt Kuchar and Jose Maria Olazabal taking part.

The idea was to get as close to the pin as possible and as you might be able to guess from Olazabal's now infamous dad dancing he went very close.

However, it was world number one McIlroy who once again trumped the rest of the field with his attempt.

The USPGA champion joked it was his biggest win of the year.

So can we expect the Northern Irishman to forgo the majors in the defence of his title next year? Probably not.
