Jockey Frankie Dettori is to face an inquiry over a failed drugs test at Longchamp on September 16th.

Italian jockey Frankie Dettori shown here carrying the Olympic flame around Ascot racecourse in July is now under investigation in France over a failed drugs test.

The test was taken after Dettori rode in four races at the Longchamp course in Paris on September 16th. The substance he tested positive for has not been disclosed but he will now face an inquiry conducted by the France Galop horse racing authority next week.

His lawyer Christopher Stewart-Moore said that in compliance with, and out of respect for, the regulations of France Galop, Dettori will not be commenting further until the France Galop procedures have been completed.
