It was fourth against seventh as Lokeren hosted Standard Liege in Belgium's Jupiler League on Friday.
Standard dominated the early stages and would have been 3-0 up after 20 minutes were it not for the efforts of Lokeren's Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Copa Barry.
First he saved from Yoni Buyens after 17 minutes.
Two minutes later Barry turned Luis Seijas's free-kick around the post.
And another two minutes after that he dived low to his right to divert Jelle Van Damme's header.
The hosts then made the most of their goalkeeper's heroics, taking the lead against the run of play through Hamdi Harbaoui's looping header four minutes before the interval.
Twenty minutes after the re-start Lokeren doubled their lead with a sensational volley struck by 20-year-old South African Ayanda Patosi.
The visitors did manage to get on the scoresheet thanks to Van Damme's 92nd minute header but moments later the final whistle was blown with Lokeren 2-1 winners.
