Roberto di Matteo: 'always a feisty day' at Loftus Road

Saturday, September 15 2012 by SNTV
  • Intro:

John Terry and Ashley Cole are expected to be fit for Chelsea's English Premier League fixture at Queen's Park Rangers (QPR) on Saturday - and to take part in the pre-match handshake, manager Roberto Di Matteo confirmed on Friday.

Their recovery from ankle injuries means a reunion with Anton Ferdinand, who Terry was cleared in court in July of racially abusing.

Cole was a character witness for the defence.

SOUNDBITE (English): Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea manager:

"Yeah, our players are fine. I mean they are respecting the rules and we are going to go ahead with it. So I will speak to my players. And from our point of view, there are no issues."

SOUNDBITE (English): Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea manager:

"No, I mean I know 'Sparky' - Mark Hughes (Queen's Park Rangers manager) - very well. And we are in touch every now ands again. And we speak. Hopefully everybody will focus on football tomorrow (Saturday) and move on and that is the mot important aspect. You know, as I said, the Premier League is being watched all over the world now and we have to set a good positive standard for everybody who is watching us. And the handshake is just a part of it. And, you know, it is part of the Respect campaign as well and hopefully, the game will be played in good spirit."

SOUNDBITE (English): Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea manager:

"Well every time we go to Loftus Road, it is always a feisty day. It will be a derby for us and you know, it is a small ground with very passionate supporters from both sides and the rivalry is well known. So it is going to be a heated atmosphere."
