Great Britain's gold medal-winning show jumping quartet of Peter Charles, Nick Skelton, Ben Maher and Scott Brash said on Tuesday that overcoming adversity throughout their careers has meant their victory at the London Olympics is all the more appreciated.
SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Charles, Team GB show jumping gold medallist:
"You can dream about a moment like that, but until it happens you don't really know what to expect. And this morning, waking up to it, and the celebrations last night... People around us, the owners... everyone's getting a lick of paint off us."
SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Charles, Team GB show jumping:
"I think you appreciate it more, definitely. You smell the roses a bit more when you go by. And these two young lads are two of the best young lads in the world and they've got it all before them still. They've reached a fantastic pinnacle in their career now and hopefully they'll carry it all on when Nick and I, sort of, well we've got a few more years left, but these two lads are the future."
SOUNDBITE (English) Ben Maher, Team Gb show jumping gold medallist:
"It's absolutely amazing, the past year or two our team has been picking up, gaining momentum and at the moment we have a great team of riders, a great team of horses and maybe we do have a long future ahead of us. But we're never going to get another Games in London again and that was important to try and make the most of it. And get the people behind us and try and bring our sport, gain (more) popularity again like it used to have."
