The nine time Olympic champion Carl Lewis has been speaking at the launch of Doha Goals, a Qatari project to promote social change through sport.

"Through sports many countries and many children are given hope because they want to go to the Olympics , they want to travel the world, they want to see these things so we can use sports to inspire these young people as well. And that's a way to give them a vision where we can help them in all regions but I think they can work hand in hand it doesn't have to be one or the other."

SOUNDBITE:(English) H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary general of the Qatar OC and Aspire4Sport vice president:

"So these kind of initiatives, ideas are not supposed to come only from the UN but could be coming from such conference so everybody is more than welcome to take and to apply especially for our important objectives of these times which is our important targets which is the youth."
