Egg-centric wins Russian Routlette World Championships

  • Intro:

England may be on the way home from Euro 2012 after a quarter-final exit, but at least the English can take some national pride from winning the World Russian Egg Roulette championship.

    Script:

    Can you feel the tension?

    This is Russian Roulette...with eggs.

Competitors went head-to-head in the Lincolnshire of Swaton for the World Russian Egg Roulette championship.

The aim of the game is not to get egg on your face.

Each athlete took it in turn to select from six eggs, five were hard boiled and the remaining egg was raw.

    You can guess the rest.

It is a brutal knockout competition and the English seem to be pretty good when it comes to avoiding breaking eggs on their foreheads.

Jerry Cullen came out on top, so does he have any tips for future eggheads?

SOUNDBITE (English): Jerry Cullen, England, Winner
" Wonderful, (any tips?) I don't think there was one, I think it's just sheer luck, England have won it today."

With teams coming from as far as Germany to take part in the seventh edition of this egg-citing event, Cullen should be proud of his success.

Organisers can also give themselves a pat on the back for raising thousands of pounds for charity.
