The team's players - including NFL star Alexander Ovechkin, travelled across the centre of the Russian capital on a double-decker bus holding aloft the Championship Cup all the way to the central Manezhnaya Square.

Thousands cheered the team as they paraded the silverware through the streets of the capital, and Ovechkin said it was important to celebrate this triumph with the people.
