    Script:

Nicolas Almagro was defending his Nice Cote d'Azur Open title on Saturday.

Up against Brian Baker, ranked 216 in the world, the Spaniard was a firm favourite.

Baker had made a remarkable run to his first final on the ATP World Tour, putting out the number four seed, Gael Monfils along the way.

But Almagro, hadn't dropped a set yet in the tournament and was on top form once again.

The number three seed taking the first set 6-4 in 35 minutes.

The American had little room to manoeuvre in the second set as Almagro fired on to close out a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Sealing the deal with a trademark killer backhand.

Almagro keeps his title the title which moves him up at least 75 places in the rankings.
