Welshman Nathan Stephens has high hopes of winning a gold medal when the Olympics come to London in August.

The paralympian lost both of his legs in a tragic childhood accident.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Nathan Stephens:

(Q: How did you lose your legs?)
"I lose my legs on my ninth birthday when I stupidly tried jumping on a slow moving freight train and got dragged under and woke up and realised that my legs were gone. But things happen, and they say they happen for a reason and I would never have got to where I am today if it hadn't happened."

He initially dismissed athletics but when he was spotted weightlifting he quickly rose through the ranks.

Winning two gold medals and one silver at his first senior British Championships when he was just 14.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Nathan Stephens:

(Q: How did you start throwing the javelin?)
"From the ages of ten to 14 I was doing swimming and sledge hockey and then I got invited through the swimming to Newport Rotary Games which is an event where disabled kids can go across and try every paralympic sport and I was never interested in athletics because I thought it was just running and jumping. I didn't think about the throwing side of it. So I (initially) chose weightlifting and table tennis to do at these events."

Stephens currently holds the world record for the javelin with a distance of 41.37 metres.

And he's hoping this year he can bring home some more medals.
