  • Intro:

Tom Schaar has become the first skateboarder to complete a 1080 at the age of 12.

    Script:

This is 12-year-old Tom Schaar and here he is attempting to become the first skateboarder ever to pull of a 1080 at MegaRamp at Woodward West in California.

The three rotation manouvere has eluded some of the world's top professional skateboarders but Schaar landed the trick at his fifth attempt, much to his own amazement.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Tom Schaar, skateboarder:

"I had a good feeling. I was holding onto my board and I was definitely high enough and I could tell I was spinning fast enough and right about at 720 I saw the coping again and I was still two-three feet above the coping and I got around that last 360 and I was just amazed."

While Schaars didn't try to top himself with a 1260 he hasn't ruled out trying the trick if he gets an invite to the Big Air competition at the X Games this summer.

For now though the Element-sponsored prodigy while have to concentrate on conquering another big obstacle - the sixth grade.
