CSKA Moscow and Olympiacos both took a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five play-off series contests with Gescrap and Montepaschi respectively in game week one of the Euroleague play-offs
Script:
Game week One of the Euroleague playoffs continued on Wednesday night, with CSKA Moscow playing host to Gescrap BB.
The Spanish visitors made a flying start to the contest by scoring 11 unanswered points, this three pointer from Kostas Vasiliadis one of a number of shots he made in the first quarter.
However, the hosts began to exert their dominance during the second quarter, Andrei Kirilenko putting CSKA Moscow well on their way to a ten point cushion at halftime as they lead 50-40.
Milos Teodosic and Alexy Shved put the game beyond Gescrap after the break, despite Marko Banic's best efforts.
Jamont Gordon's two-pointer proved to be the last points CSKA put on the board as they ran out 98-71 winners to take a 1-0 in the best-of-five play-off series.
In Italy Montepaschi Siena played host to Greek side Olympiacos in what was a nail-biting encounter
The home side maintained a slender advantage for most of the game but could never pull away from Olympiacos.
David Anderson's three-pointer kept Siena's noses in front in the third quarter but there was to be a dramatic twist in the final five minutes.
Georgios Printezis proved to be the hero for the Greeks with some clutch baskets as they got their noses in front.
Printezis then came up with a huge three-pointer with less than two minutes remaining to help Olympiacos on their way to 82-75 win and 1-0 lead in the series.
