Jesse Lingard says he is loving life at West Ham after netting the decisive goal in their 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

Lingard moved to the London Stadium on loan last month after falling out of favour at Manchester United, where he failed to make a single Premier League appearance in the first half of the campaign.

The 28-year-old has hit the ground running at West Ham, scoring twice on his debut against Aston Villa and bagging the winner in their latest triumph over Spurs.

There is no option-to-buy clause in his loan contract, yet the Hammers are expected to launch a permanent offer to sign him at the end of the season.

And after Sunday’s win Lingard made it clear how much he is enjoying his football in east London, which suggests he would be more than happy to stay there permanently.

“I am really enjoying my football,” he told BBC Sport.

“The lads have taken to me really well. Today we had to graft for the three points and we showed what we are capable of.

“Here at West Ham we are a team that likes to play forward and on the front foot and press as well. It is consistency. That is where I have struggled in previous experiences. Hopefully I can keep that consistency.

“I have come here to play football. Football makes me happy and when we win.”

Lingard fired in a terrific strike two minutes into the second half against Spurs, which was initially ruled out for an apparent offside.

Yet after consultation with VAR, the linesman’s original decision was overturned and the England international’s goal stood.

“A brilliant win. The lads are buzzing. We grafted. Luck was on our side today,” Lingard told Sky Sports.

“It was just about maintaining the same intensity in the second half. We knew it would be a graft, that is what as a team we are about, working hard for the three points.

“It is brilliant, the lads have taken to me. I have settled in really quickly. I am playing each game with a smile and enjoying my football and that is the most important thing.

“Everyone has the same mindset and goal for the end of the season and the same targets. We don't look at the table too much and will take it game by game but this is an enjoyable position to be in.”
