Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is battling to save his job at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have reportedly given Frank Lampard three games to save his job at Stamford Bridge. The Blues boss is under pressure in the wake of his side’s Premier League defeat to Leicester on Tuesday night. And, if things don’t improve, he’ll become the latest managerial casualty of the Roman Abramovich era.

Chelsea thought they’d be challenging for the Premier League title under Lampard this season.

But the Blues have seen their hopes of winning the crown all but ended already after losing six times this term.

Leicester were the latest team to put the west London giants to the sword, winning 2-0 on Tuesday night with Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison both on target.

For now, Chelsea are hesitant.

They don’t want to axe Lampard just yet, mindful of how popular the 42-year-old is amongst supporters.

But Sky Sports claim he’s now got three games to save his job with the spectres of Massimiliano Allegri, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Thomas Tuchel all looming charge.

Chelsea can’t afford to lose their FA Cup clash against Luton Town because, if they do, the axe will come crashing down.

And, after that, they have crunch matches against Wolves and Burnley on January 27 and January 31 respectively.

Tuchel and Allegri are both interested in replacing Lampard at Chelsea if results don’t improve, with both men currently available.

The former recently lost his job at PSG, despite steering the club to back to back Ligue 1 titles as well as the Champions League final last year.

And Allegri is also on the market, having last managed Juventus - who he left in 2019.

Meanwhile, Blues star Mason Mount has backed Lampard despite the 2-0 defeat to Leicester being a chastening night for all involved.

"We know we are better than that,” he said.

"We have to have a look at ourselves, look at how we played, see where we can improve and come back stronger next game.

"We were beaten by the better side.

"We know they are a very good team and coming into the game we knew how tough it would be. They set up very well and sometimes you have to put your hands up and say they were better on the night.

"They took their chances. Two goals before half-time affected us and makes it difficult when you’re coming out in the second half.

"When you’re clinical in front of goal you are going to win games. We had a couple but we didn’t score.

"We are disappointed we didn’t win the game. We know we are better than that. We have to have a look at ourselves, look at how we played, see where we can improve and come back stronger next game.”

Lampard said after the match against Leicester: “I can’t get caught up in what the reaction will be because I’d be sitting here all day concerned about it.

"I’m not the only manager to be put under this pressure but the good thing for me is I’m good at handling pressure.”

And the Chelsea boss also slammed his side for the lack of desire on show, adding: “The general theme [against Leicester] was slower, more sluggish.

"It was lacking confidence but also lacking a bit of desire to run.

"When a team is confident, they look like Leicester. Or like we did a month ago.

"The very clear message to the players is when you’re playing well, if you relax a little bit, then this game kicks you right up the backside.”
