And Maxine Murphy, mother of twins Jacob of Newcastle and Josh at Cardiff, worked with her son's football representatives to deliver medical assistance for the community of Muhoroni.

Murphy's mum was aware of the limited transport options for people in the Kenyan village who are ill or need urgent help in the pandemic.

And an ambulance is now available for the St Vincent De Paul Mission Hospital.

Newcastle winger Jacob posted on Instagram: "Fantastic work! Proud of you mum & New Era Global Sports."

Jamie Moralee, the CEO of New Era Global Sports agency, supported the project and said: "When Maxine approached us on this project, it was something that we wanted to give 100 per cent support to and we are pleased to hear it is now saving people's lives.

"I am proud of everyone's efforts."

Ferdinand, an advisor and mentor for current players like the Murphy twins, added on Instagram: "Great work Team."

Ex-West Ham defender Danny Gabbidon said: "Amazing work by everyone involved."

Elsewhere, Ferdinand tipped United new boy Amad Diallo to become a 'world beater'.

The Red Devils confirmed the £37million transfer of the 18-year-old from Atalanta as their first January signing.

The ex-United defender said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: "We've just bought a kid in from Atalanta and hopefully he does something.

"If you see his clips and speak to people at the club who are involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be a world beater.

"That is the thought of Manchester United people that this kid is one they have unearthed."
