Thiago Silva is ready to extend his Chelsea deal despite only signing for Frank Lampard's side in the summer

Chelsea star Thiago Silva is said to ready to extend his deal in west London.

The veteran defender, 36, joined the Blues on a free this summer, penning a one-year contract following his PSG exit.

However, Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb report Silva is already in talks to sign a one-year extension after hitting the ground running at Stamford Bridge.

Silva has told the club of his desire to stay and discussions could accelerate in the coming days.

The defender is already a good leader in Frank Lampard's dressing room and has helped shore up Chelsea's backline, with the club keen to keep hold for another year.

The Brazilian has settled into London life well, scoring his first goal for the club in the 4-1 win over Sheffield United before the international break.

And it looks as though Silva's wife Belle is settling into life in the capital too.

The Chelsea star’s other half shared photos on her Instagram story to 400,000 followers of a Christmas wonderland at their stunning mansion earlier this month.

Belle brought in a company to decorate the family’s massive house, with the staircase decorated with baubles and ribbon, leading to the huge Christmas tree in the living room.

And Silva's team-mates certainly seem keen on him.

Mason Mount was this week quizzed on the 36-year-old and was full of praise.

Asked whether he is learning from new signings such as Thiago, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, the 21-year-old told a press conference: "Yeah, we all learn stuff off each other.

"I think when you have players like them two [Havertz and Werner] coming in, and Thiago Silva, that’s been through a lot and been at the top of thee game for a long time, you can gain so much experience off just talking to him and speaking to him for five minutes here and there."

On Thiago, Mount added: "He’s a brilliant player and has been through it all so players like that coming into this team really helps us.

"It especially helps us younger players that are coming through and it gives us a lot of experience."
