Dayot Upamecano has dropped a huge hint that he has his heart set on a move to Manchester United next year. Upamecano is one of the most highly-rated central defenders in world football having impressed at RB Leipzig over the past few years.

United have long been linked with signing the Frenchman and an approach was expected in the past summer transfer window.

Leipzig moved quickly to tie down the centre-back to a new contract though, denying any potential exit from the Bundesliga club.

The new contract though is said to include a £36million release clause, which activates next year.

United aren't the only club said to be interested in Upamecano though with Liverpool also being linked.

Jurgen Klopp has a defensive crisis at Anfield with both Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk facing long spells out injured.

Bayern Munich have also been touted as a potential suitor, although recent reports have suggested they're unable to afford him.

According to Bild, a decision on Upamecano's future could come in January with big interest from the Premier League.

And it appears as though Upamecano has made his mind up on which club he would prefer to join.

Eagle-eyed social media users spotted an Instagram post linking United with a move for Upamecano to Old Trafford.

And they noticed that Upamecano had 'liked' the post, sending United fans wild in excitement.

One supporter wrote: "He liked it bro!"

Another posted: "He liked this post damn!"

A third said: "Welcome him already @upamecano_5."

Another commented: "This is absolutely sick!"

United were given a good chance to scout Upamecano last month when they faced Leipzig in the Champions League.

But the 22-year-old endured a night to forget as United thrashed the German side 5-0.
