Liverpool hope Mohamed Salah doesn't have to quarantine despite positive coronavirus test

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah tested positive for coronavirus on Friday but is set to take a retest.
Liverpool are waiting on a coronavirus retest for Mohamed Salah to determine if he needs to quarantine, according to reports. Salah tested positive for coronavirus after meeting up with the Egypt squad this week ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo. But Liverpool are hopeful that a retest will prove that the forward is clear of the virus.
The official Twitter account of the Egypt national team announced on Friday afternoon that Salah was the only member of the squad to have tested positive for Covid-19.
The announcement read: "Salah is infected with Coronavirus.
"The medical swab conducted on the test of our first national football team showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with the Coronavirus, after his test came positive ... although he does not suffer from any symptoms.. While the other members of the team were negative."
However, they have since said three players from Egypt and Togo will have a retest.

And the Mirror say Liverpool are hopeful that Salah's retest comes back negative.
Liverpool have already had two players test positive for coronavirus, only for a retest to clear them of the illness.
Egypt play Togo on Saturday night and Salah will receive the result of his second test before then.
If he tests positive again, the 28-year-old will have to quarantine for at least 10 days.
That would rule Salah out of the top-of-the-table clash against Leicester at Anfield on November 22.
Liverpool are seeking clarification on how long Salah would have to quarantine for if he were to test positive.
The Mirror says the worst-case scenario would see Salah forced to quarantine for 14 days after returning to the UK, though that is highly unlikely.
But if Salah's retest comes back negative, he would be free to play for Egypt in their double-header against Togo before returning to face Leicester.
News about Salah comes as a further blow to Liverpool.
The Reds are in the middle of a defensive injury crisis following the serious knee injury suffered by Joe Gomez in England training on Wednesday.
Gomez joins Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the treatment table to stretch Jurgen Klopp's squad to the limit.
Klopp has Joel Matip, Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips available, with Fabinho close to returning from a hamstring problem.
