Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are all set to enter the race for Jadon Sancho despite Manchester United being heavily linked with the Borussia Dortmund star all summer

Liverpool could reportedly leap ahead of Manchester United in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Sancho was heavily linked with a move to United all summer though the Red Devils refused to pay the £108m asking price for the England star.

Now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could face competition when the window reopens as clubs adjust to transfer life amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier reports suggested Liverpool would not make a move for Sancho due to the virus with it previously unknown what the impact would be on funds.

Though the Independent claim the Reds could move ahead of United with Sancho’s camp believed to be willing to re-assess options.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken to Sancho in the past and reportedly impressed the Dortmund star.

Reds legend Jamie Carragher believes his former club will battle with United next summer.

He recently said: “United have got a clear run at Sancho now – but that will change if he’s still at Dortmund next year. I’d be very surprised if Liverpool didn’t try to sign him next summer.

"That’s why I think United will pay what they have got to pay.

"When United have paid big fees for players in the past we’ve all laughed and said, ‘they’ve been done again’.

"People called [Man Utd chief executive Ed] Woodward a joke – selling clubs could always get an extra £10m or £20m from him.

"Now Borussia Dortmund have asked £108m for Sancho. And because United haven’t paid it straight away everyone is criticising them.

"Woodward is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.”

United did not sign Sancho though made four signings on transfer deadline day, including Alex Telles and former PSG striker Edinson Cavani.
