Three more Chelsea stars set to leave after Ross Barkley completes Aston Villa switch

The Chelsea midfielder completed a surprise switch to Aston Villa on Wednesday morning but he could be followed out the door by three others

It's been a busy summer at Stamford Bridge but it seems Frank Lampard 's incoming transfer business has finished.

The Blues boss oversaw the signings of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy.

It now seems Chelsea are focusing on players they can offload.

On Wednesday, Ross Barkley sealed a season-long loan to Aston Villa. And with a week of the transfer window left the England international could yet be followed out the door by three more players.

The first is Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard, who was brilliant in his first three seasons at Chelsea, has found playing time tough under Lampard.

Despite only being 29 and a proven winner at the club, it seems his time is up. Hooked at half-time for a shoddy display against West Brom, it seems Emerson is now preferred to Alonso.

Add to this the signing of Ben Chilwell and it seems certain the full-back will leave.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another who could leave this week.

Having regularly struggled for fitness the midfielder is now "fit as a fiddle". But Lampard wants more playing time for Loftus-Cheek than he can offer.

"There’s a possibility that Ruben may go out to play games, because I think that would be great for him," said the Blues boss.

"We hold him in very high regard here, I certainly do, and that could be a good option for him.

When asked if he thinks the German's future lays elsewhere after the Tottenham defeat, Lampard said: "No, it's not at that point."

Lampard's comments suggest that Rudiger's situation could get to a point where he leaves.

The centre-back was not in the squad for the Carabao Cup game and has been continually linked with the exit.
