Manchester United have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United could make a stunning move for Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale with frustration growing over their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. The Bundesliga side are refusing to budge on their £108million asking price.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the England international to help him close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

But Dortmund insist they will not lower their asking price, something Ed Woodward thinks is unrealistic to pay in the current climate impacted by COVID-19.

Now United officials are considering making a shock move for Bale who is well down the pecking order at Real Madrid.

The Red Devils were interested this time last year but were put off by his £600,000-a-week wages.

That has now changed with Real ready to pay half of that to get Bale off their books this summer.

The Daily Star claim Solskjaer thinks the Welshman would be a good option if top target Sancho is unable to be secured.

Bale has hardly kicked a ball for Los Blancos in the last year and would be keen on a return to the Premier League.

Ed Woodward would prefer to take the 31-year-old on loan than buy him outright for around £22m.

Bale has made it clear he wants to move on from Real but insisted the La Liga club are making things difficult for him.

“I tried to leave last year but they [Real Madrid] blocked everything at the last second,” Bale told Sky Sports earlier this month.

“It was a project I was excited for last year but it didn’t materialise. And there have been other instances but the club won’t allow it or something, so it’s up to the club.

“I want to play football. I’m still motivated to play football. I’m 31 but I’m in great shape still and I feel I’ve got a lot to give.

“We’ll see what happens. It’s in the club’s hands and they make things very difficult to be honest.”

When asked if he would like to return to the Premier League, the former Tottenham player said: “It’s not really in my hands. If those options arise, it’s something I’d look at for sure.”

United have already signed Donny van de Beek in a £40m deal from Ajax this summer.

They will hope to further strengthen before the October 5 transfer deadline though.
