James Rodriguez has vowed to rediscover his best form and bring entertaining football to Everton after finally completing his move to Merseyside.

The Toffees confirmed the capture of the Colombian ace from Real Madrid in a deal believed to be worth just under £20m.

Rodriguez, 29, has penned a two-year deal with the option for a further year. The third year will be automatically triggered if Rodriguez plays a set number of games.

And after failing to fulfil his promise in Spain, the midfielder believes he can improve at Goodison Park after being reunited with boss Carlo Ancelotti.

He said: “I’ve come here to try to improve, to get better.

“I’ve also come here to help the team to win, to play good football – entertaining football.

“I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well,” James told evertonfc.com.

“I’m looking forward to achieving great things here – and winning things, which is what everyone’s aim is.

“I’m convinced, with Carlo and his technical staff, we can achieve big things and one of the big reasons [I signed] was the presence of Carlo Ancelotti.

“I’m a winner, I’m a real winner.

“I think the seriousness and determination to win trophies can lead to silverware.”

Rodriguez was signed by Ancelotti at Real Madrid in 2014 in a £63m deal from Monaco after he starred at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The pair briefly worked together again at Bayern Munich but Ancelotti was sacked early into Rodriguez's two-year loan spell.

He has won league titles with Porto, Real and Bayern as well as two Champions League winners' medals during his time in Spain.

Everton not only believe they have secured a player who can take them to another level on the pitch, but they also believe his star quality will be a huge asset to their brand worldwide.

The Toffees believe it will accelerate their international growth plans by having a player who has such worldwide appeal.

And they plan to capitalise on his global stardom in the coming months.

Ancelotti is just happy to have another midfielder in as he transforms an area which was an obvious concern for him.

Everton announced the £22m signing of Allan over the weekend while Abdoulaye Doucoure is set to join from Watford in a deal worth around £20m.

The Toffees boss said: “James, as everyone knows, is a fantastic player with a lot of quality and a lot of ability to make assists for the strikers.

“He’s really excited about the project of the club and the fact we want to improve.

“Players like James and Allan can help us to be better and we can help them to be better.

“This kind of connection can be helpful to improve the results, the team and results of this club.”
