Benfica and Real Madrid agree loan deal for Mariano... without the player's consent

Benfica have agreed to sign Mariano Diaz on loan from Real Madrid.
The deal includes an option to buy for the Portuguese club when the forward's loan expires at the end of the 2020/21 season.
The talks, for now, have been held exclusively between the two clubs.
Neither the player nor his agent have been involved in these talks, which means they haven't discussed the conditions of the loan or Mariano's expected playing time under Jorge Jesus.
Mariano has received plenty of offers to leave Real Madrid in the past year but he's preferred to stick it out under Zinedine Zidane.
His sporadic role in the first team at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu hasn't changed from last season to this term, so that's led to Real Madrid seeking a loan exit for their third-choice striker.
