Man Utd to sign Serbian winger?

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a £10.8million deal deal to sign Partizan Belgrade winger Filip Stevanovic.

Reports claim the 17-year-old will move to Old Trafford but will initially be loaned back to Partizan for another season.

Partizan boss Savo Milosevic recently insisted the teenager could be worth closer to £20m in the future, such are his talents.

The Serbian Telegraph (via Republika ) claim the deal to move to United is worth close to £10m for the youngster.

Vertonghen joins Benfica on free transfer

Jan Vertonghen has joined Benfica on a three-year deal after leaving Tottenham.

The 33-year-old left Spurs at the end of the season after the club decided not to renew his contract.

He spent eight years at the club after joining from Ajax, making over 300 appearances.

Vertonghen did not win a major honour in England. He was part of the Spurs teams that lost the League Cup final to Chelsea in 2015 and the Champions League final to Liverpool in 2019.

Pique offers to leave Barca

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has sensationally offered to leave the club after their humiliating 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.

"I'm in pain. We all are. We can't compete like that. It's very, very tough to take," the 33-year-old told Spain's Movistar.

"Nothing more is worth saying. The club needs changes. Not just the players, I don't want to point out anyone.

"But football is a sport where change is constantly required. We must change the dynamic we are on because I believe we have just hit bottom.

"We have to look around, we have to trust that people will do the right things for the club.

"Is it an end of an era, I'm not sure? But I know that we must accept that we have hit bottom.

"Not just players the but, as a club, we aren't on the right road.

"We have had years of success but we haven't won the league and we haven't won in Europe and we have to compete. You've seen it on the pitch and this today is unacceptable.

"If I have to go in order to change things I'll be the first to accept that.

"This was a horrible game... it's a dreadful feeling. It's shameful. Structurally we need changes at all levels."

Dembele to United?

Barcelona "joker" Ousmane Dembele would be the perfect signing for Manchester United this summer, according to Brazil legend Rivaldo.

Dembele, 23, has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp since completing a £124million switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

It is becoming difficult to envisage a future for him with the Catalans - and reports suggest United are eyeing up a potential deal in the summer transfer window.

Rivaldo believes Dembele would be a "good option" for the Red Devils should they miss out on No.1 target Jadon Sancho, who looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund next season.

"Ousmane Dembele has travelled with Barca to Lisbon and there is a a chance we'll see him play against Bayern [Munich]," he told Betfair prior to this evening's Champions League quarter-final.

"He could be what I call a 'joker' for Barcelona, coming off the bench to effect the match, as he is very talented.

There are rumours about him leaving the club at the end of the season, but while he is around, the manager should use him.

"Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in him after having difficulties in their bid to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

"Dembele could be a good option for United. He's very quick and talented, and I believe he could prosper in the Premier League."

United urged to snub Sancho for Kane

Manchester United should target Harry Kane instead of Jadon Sancho this summer, according to Paul Merson.

Sancho, 20, is at the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wish list, but Borussia Dortmund are demanding £100million for his services.

And Merson believes United should forget about the Dortmund ace and go after Tottenham talisman Kane instead.

"Manchester United should forget Jadon Sancho and sign Harry Kane instead - it would make them title contenders," he said in his column for Daily Star Sport.

"With Sancho, it's a transfer saga that's dragging on now, and I keep on weighing it up thinking: ‘Is this what United really need?'

"They've got Mason Greenwood, who's going to be a star. Marcus Rashford is only going to get better and better. But while Anthony Martial lets nobody down, I think they need an out and out centre forward.

"With Sancho, where is everyone going to play? Do they leave Greenwood out?

"I just think with £100m, why don't you go and get Kane from Tottenham?"

Bruce hopeful of Longstaff stay

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is not giving up on Matty Longstaff.

The 20-year-old became a free agent this month after talks stalled between the Magpies and his representatives.

Longstaff, who scored the winner on his Premier League debut against Manchester United last year, has attracted interest from home and abroad.

But Bruce is encouraged by the fact the midfielder has yet take up any of the options available to him.

Serie A outfit Udinese have offered Longstaff a lucrative package which is worth up to £30,000 a week despite his lack of top flight experience.

And both Sheffield United and newly-promoted Leeds are keeping a close eye on his situation.

But Bruce is still hopeful his personal relationship with Matty and his big brother Sean could yet persuade him to stick at St James' Park
