Chelsea do not see Bayern Munich star David Alaba as a priority target ahead of the summer transfer window, reports say. Frank Lampard is eager to land a new left-back, having already secured the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. But it appears the Austria international is unlikely to move to Stamford Bridge at  current time.

Alaba has fallen down the Bayern Munich pecking order this season, with the Austria international currently behind Alphonso Davies in the German giants’ pecking order.

And that’s sparked suggestions that he could become the latest player to join Lampard’s Chelsea revolution, with Werner and Ziyech having already signed on the dotted line.

Chelsea do want a new left-back and Express Sport understands that, at the current time, their priority is Leicester’s Ben Chilwell.

And Football London say Alaba isn’t a ‘top priority’ for the west London giants.

Chelsea fans are warned to not get too carried away about the prospect of the 28-year-old making the move to Stamford Bridge.

And it appears that the Blues are solely focused on Chilwell as they look for upgrades on Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

Alaba has actually spent most of the season playing at centre-back for Bayern.

But they’re open to letting the veteran go as they explore transfer deals for the likes of Leroy Sane and Kai Havertz, of Manchester City and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Alaba was recently asked about his Bayern future and responded by saying: “I’m trying to keep my focus on what’s essential, on games.

“In the last few weeks, I have focused completely on training and games.

“The coming weeks will definitely reveal how things develop. As I said, everything is quiet.”

While Lampard wants to bring Chilwell to Chelsea this summer, ESPN pundit Don Hutchinson recently urged him to go for Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico instead.

The 27-year-old has flourished for the Dutch giants over the past two years.

And Hutchinson said: "Tagliafico all day long.

"We talk about transfer fees, the Chilwell transfer fee in the U.K. They're saying over £75m-£80m which I think is astronomical.

"I look around Europe and I see loads of left-backs that are really good, if not better. I see [Marvin] Plattenhardt, I see Philipp Max.

"I think Tagliafico is the best one out there at Ajax, I think he's terrific and I don't think he will cost anywhere near £80m, half the money I would imagine.

"So he would get my pick, the Argentinian."

With Chelsea already securing the arrivals of Werner and Ziyech, they’re also helping to bring Havertz to the club.

No bid has been lodged for the German just yet but Lampard remains hopeful of beating Bayern and Real Madrid to the playmaker’s signature.
