West Ham manager David Moyes demanded to know the name of the Premier League official that was in charge of VAR after his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Tuesday evening

West Ham boss David Moyes was left fuming after a handball went unnoticed against Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead thanks to an own goal by Tomas Soucek after a Giovani Lo Celso corner, but the ball struck the arm of Davinson Sanchez on the way through.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss was visibly annoyed when heading for his post match interview after watching the footage of the first goal, and he couldn’t believe his misfortune.

VAR official David Coote had decided to let the goal stand despite the infringement, which handed Spurs the ascendancy before Harry Kane secured all three points on the counter.

In an interview with Geoff Shreeves on Sky Sports, Moyes asked: "Who was on VAR tonight? Who was doing VAR tonight? Do we know who it was?"

After Shreeves confirmed that it was David Coote, the Scot replied: “Not very good, eh?"

Before adding: "I have only just seen it. I can't believe they have ruled that as a goal.

"After the rule that 'if any handball which leads to a goal is disallowed'?

"We had a great goal scored against Sheffield United in the last minute [ruled out] for something, and they have not ruled that one out?

"That's the rules, I don't think it's a particularly good rule, but for them to not give that tonight, I can't believe it."

Pundits Jamie Redknapp and Bobby Zamora both believed the goal should have been ruled out, but Jose Mourinho was left delighted by the result.

He said: "I told the players at half-time, if we don't win this match then don't think about chances.

"In the first half we were too slow and predictable. In the second half we were much better.”

Before adding: “We managed to be really solid today so I'm also happy with that.

"We also trained attacking organisation and we know we need to improve that, being more dynamic and improving our intensity. I had a rich bench today and plenty of quality."
