EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool could face losing the battle to keep Jurgen Klopp at Anfield if Bayern Munich come knocking, according to former Reds star Steve McManaman

Jurgen Klopp could have his head turned by Bayern Munich, says former Reds star Steve McManaman.

Liverpool are a staggering 25 points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League table.

And with football resuming next week, the Reds look set to bag their first title since 1990.

Klopp has been in the Anfield hot seat since 2015 and is a hugely popular figure on Merseyside. Nevertheless, McManaman has warned that the German chief might eventually be tempted to return to his homeland.

"I think he really adores Liverpool and the Premier League," he exclusively told Daily Star Sport.

"But you could see him going back to Germany and managing Bayern Munich.

"The way that club is run - and the way German managers are treated there - you wouldn't rule it out. A few years ago it looked like Bayern were on their last legs.

"But now, along with the more experienced players, they've got a plethora of youngsters who are hungry.

"I'm not sure Klopp has any desire to manage Real Madrid or Barcelona and I don't see why he'd go to La Liga though.

"They don't have the aura that they did when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were doing battle every week. There is also all the politics behind the scenes at Barca with the board and players.

"Real is a different scenario. They need to refresh their squad and they are bringing in young players like Vinicius Junior - but they aren't ready yet."

Despite retiring 15 years ago, McManaman is set to lock horns with Barcelona superstar Antoine Griezmann later this week. However, it won't be on the pitch.

The ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid winger is taking part in the Solidarity Challenge - a virtual football tournament raising money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Griezmann is a keen gamer and McManaman fears he could get shown up the France international.

"He's very, very good," McManaman joked.

"Griezmann plays a lot and is the one that everyone should be scared of. I'll be honest, I'm not very good at these e-sports.

"We always had games during my playing days, although it was nowhere near the quality you get now.

"I can't practice unfortunately as I'm homeschooling the kids. I've got to focus on English, History and Geography lesson most days.

"Football with the feet was always my thing, but this is all for a great cause."
